As a partner within the city’s new C2L-PHL program, and together with private partners around the city, PYN’s new WorkReady-Summer BOOST initiative is providing teens and young adults with the highest-quality internship experiences our city has to offer!

In collaboration with more than 40 youth employment partners across the city, these experiences include 120 hours of paid work experience along with professional development sessions, industry tours, comprehensive career coaching and more!

Tailored for individuals aged 14 to 24 in Philadelphia's highest-priority violence-affected zip codes, WorkReady-VIP is a new career development initiative offering comprehensive work experiences, mentorship, and career development curriculum paired with opportunities for social emotional learning and wraparound support systems.

​

In addition to opportunities for paid career development experiences, the program provides violence intervention and prevention services, access to trauma-informed support services, health and intervention strategies, employment support, and community development services for hundreds of youth, year-round.

Funded by grant dollars from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) this new, year-round career development initiative is focused on offering occupational opportunities, financial literacy, and jobsite training, to equip youth with essential skills for future success.

Expanding on the success of PYN’s summer youth employment programs, WorkReady BOOST is designed to provide comprehensive career development training through guided curriculum and paid jobsite placements across a variety of career sectors. Program providers will offer targeted career coaching, financial literacy modules, resume workshops, field trips, industry tours + more.

This spring, PYN partnered with the local community engagement organization, Philly Truce to provide a hands-on program focused on social-emotional learning and mentorship for young men of color to achieve economic independence under the new WorkReady-BOOST initiative

The initiative includes a curriculum on literacy, conflict resolution, and financial management, culminating in a community service based paid work experience.

Musicopia exposes youth to careers in the arts in music education to local district schools under the new WorkReady-BOOST initiative. Youth participants join drumline percussion programs led by teaching artists and mentors, gaining career awareness, skills development, and mentorship in the performing arts sector.

 

In addition to being paid directly for rehearsal hours, the program includes 20 hours of paid professional development focused on career exposure in the arts and entertainment sector, financial literacy, resume building, and more.

The Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) has partnered with Responsible Business Initiatives for Justice (RBIJ) to launch the Philadelphia chapter of Unlock Potential, a groundbreaking program designed to empower justice-involved youth and young adults.

​

Prioritizing youth who are most disconnected from opportunity, Unlock Potential (UP) confronts economic immobility by providing meaningful paid work experience, jobsite training, mentorship, and opportunities for future careers. The program is designed to be a pipeline to future careers within UP’s cohort of partner organizations .

Over spring break 2024, PYN partnered with Hilco Redevelopment Partners at The Bellwether District to host an engaging Engineering Exposure Bootcamp. This immersive, weeklong program provided youth with hands-on activities and information sessions meant to expose youth to careers in engineering and development.

Newly Announced - In partnership with 21st- Century Learning Centers, the Philadelphia Youth Network's Career Connected Learning Out-of-School Time (OST) Programs are community school-based afterschool and summer academic enrichment programs designed to provide dynamic career connected, academic, and social-emotional OST learning experiences that advance STEAM learning and inspire student engagement.
