TGR Foundation - Maker Space Internship

The Tiger Woods Foundation seeks a motivated and responsible high school student to assist with the daily operations and maintenance of our makerspace. The makerspace is equipped with cutting-edge tools, including 3D printers, a laser engraver, a direct-to-garment printer, a CNC machine, and other state-of-the-art equipment. The Makerspace Student Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the space is organized, safe, and ready for student projects and activities. 


Key Responsibilities Include: 


Equipment Maintenance:

  • Perform routine cleaning, calibration, and maintenance of 3D printers, laser engravers, 

  • CNC machines, and other tools to ensure proper functioning. 

  • Troubleshoot minor technical issues and escalate complex problems to the makerspace 

  • supervisor. 

Materials Management:

  • Organize and manage inventory of materials (e.g., filament, wood, fabric, etc.) and ensure supplies are adequately stocked. 

  • Assist with receiving and restocking orders for consumables and tools. 

Workspace Organization:

  • Keep the makerspace clean, organized, and safe for use by students and staff. 

  • Ensure tools and materials are stored properly and that safety protocols are followed. 

Support and Assistance:

  • Provide basic training and guidance to peers on how to use the equipment safely and effectively. 

  • Assist students with setting up and troubleshooting their projects. 

Safety Compliance:

  • Monitor adherence to makerspace safety rules and help enforce safety guidelines. 

  • Perform regular checks to ensure all safety equipment is operational and accessible. 

Preffered Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with or interest in learning about 3D printers, laser engravers, CNC machines, and other makerspace equipment. 

  • Basic technical and mechanical aptitude; willingness to learn and troubleshoot equipment. 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. 

  • Effective communication skills for working with peers and staff. 

  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience with makerspace equipment or participation in STEM/tech-related activities. 

  • Enrollment in or completion of courses related to engineering, design, or technology.
