Job Title: Program and Activity Assistant Intern

Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to assist with various programs and activities within our Youth Programs department. The intern will support the staff in delivering engaging and educational experiences for children and participants of all ages, including but not limited to lunch assistance, recreational programs, performing arts, swimming activities, early childhood education, and devotional programs. This is a hands-on learning opportunity ideal for someone interested in child development, education, or recreational programming. Additionally, the intern will attend workshops focused on college readiness and essential life skills, such as budgeting, time management, and other adulting topics, to better prepare for future academic and career endeavors.


Key Responsibilities:


Lunch Assistance:

  • Help set up, distribute, and clean up after meals during lunchtime.

  • Ensure food safety standards are followed and assist in any related tasks as directed by food service staff.

Program Support:

  • Assist with organizing and facilitating morning discovery activities and daily programs.

  • Provide support for camp programs, including engaging with children during games, arts and crafts, and group activities.

Early Childhood Education Assistance:

  • Assist early childhood educators in activities and lessons.

  • Help with supervision of children, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.

Devotional & Recreational Programs:

  • Help set up and assist in leading devotional programs for children.

  • Support recreational programs by engaging participants in fun, age-appropriate activities.

Performing Arts Programs:

  • Assist instructors in managing performing arts classes or activities.

  • Help participants with tasks like set-up, and practice sessions.

Swim Activities:

  • Assist during swim lessons or recreational swim times.

  • Support lifeguards by ensuring safety rules are followed.

Administrative Support:

  • Help with filing and organizing paperwork, including participant forms and program materials.

  • Assist in data entry, tracking, and basic office tasks as needed.

Food Pantry Support:

  • Assist in organizing and stocking pantry shelves.

  • Help with inventory control and support distribution efforts as directed by staff.

Workshops and Life Skills Training:

  • Attend workshops geared toward college readiness, such as preparing for the college application process, scholarships, and academic success strategies.

  • Participate in adulting workshops covering essential life skills such as budgeting, time management, resume writing, and interview preparation.

  • Apply learning from workshops to real-life scenarios during internship tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Must be between the ages of 14-18.

  • Strong interest in working with children, youth programs, or education.

  • Ability to work well as part of a team and interact positively with children and other staff.

  • Reliable, punctual, and responsible.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable with physical activities, including assisting with swim programs.

  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
