PYNtern Spotlight | Reese Green: From the Classroom to the Airwaves

Updated: Nov 12

Meet Reese Green, a Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) intern and senior at St. Joseph's University with big aspirations in the world of broadcast media. In July of 2024, Reese joined PYN's WorkReady BOOST program, bringing his passion for media into focus with a specific goal: to break into the world of radio broadcasting.

Starting with PYN’s summer cohort, Reese quickly found his footing, securing a competitive internship with IHEART Radio, one of PYN’s valued partners for nearly a decade. This opportunity has allowed Reese to dive deep into the fast-paced world of radio.

From the research and production side, he has learned the nuts and bolts of the industry, working alongside renowned on-air personalities like Lorraine Ballard Morrill and Frankie Darcell. Reese has even made it on-air, adding a fresh Gen Z perspective to topics ranging from current events to sports, and even the 2024 election.

One of Reese's most notable moments came on Election Day when he assisted in producing and speaking in an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. As Reese shared on LinkedIn, connecting with the Vice President was an "astonishing, remarkable experience" and one that he’ll never forget.

Reese’s enthusiasm and dedication have not gone unnoticed—he was invited to continue with IHEART’s fall intern cohort, where he’s been involved in impactful projects like producing pre- and post-show content for the presidential debate, and working closely with hosts like Frankie Darcell on 105.3WDAS. In Reese’s own words, his internship with IHEART has been a “phenomenal opportunity,” allowing him to collaborate with influential voices and sharpen his skills for a future career in broadcasting.

Beyond his work with IHEART, Reese participates in weekly professional development sessions with PYN, covering topics like financial literacy and career readiness. He hopes to build on these experiences and ultimately land a role as an on-air personality and segment producer, continuing to bring his unique voice to the airwaves.

We are proud to have Reese as part of our PYN family and can’t wait to see the exciting path ahead for him. Good luck, Reese!
